Last Woman Standing & Out on the Bubble

I qualified for, and played, the $1K mega at The Bike.  Out of the 71 participants, I made it to the final two tables.  I chipped up, but took some sick beats on the river.  I was down to 10 blinds and 14 players, but managed to get back in it, and then some.

I built my stack up to just over 40K when I picked up AcKc in early position.  With a 300 ante and blinds at 1K/2K, I raised to 8K, but picked up two callers - - the blinds.  I flopped an Ace with two diamonds on board.  The blinds checked around to me and I shoved.  After the small blind folded, I was called by the big blind who had 7s in the hole and flopped a set.  He said he was priced in when the small blind smooth called pre-flop.  Can you say, "cold decked?"

He covered me and I went out 3 from a payday and 7 from a W.S.O.P. main event seat.  Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty bummed right now.

Driving to The Bike on a Thursday Evening

I'm on my way from Newport Beach to The Bike in Bell Gardens.  It's easily a 40 min. drive without traffic ... this may take a while.

3 Days of Tournaments Result in 3 Days of Dreaming

Last night, I entered the $80 Step 2 WSOP satellite at The Bicycle Casino while sweating Johan, who was sitting at the Final Table of The Bike's $40K Guaranteed NLH Tournament.

The bad news is that the Lakers lost Game 5 in Boston, and are now headed back to Los Angeles in what will certainly be a 7-game series.  The good news is that Johan made a pretty penny after the Final Table agreed on a 6-handed chip count prop and I qualified for the $1050 Step 3 WSOP Satellite event on June 17th.

From now until Thursday, I will be fantasizing of what might be if I earn my $10K seat into the WSOP Main event and all of the possibilities that go along with it.

Johan's In and I'm Out (again)

So, Johan is now going on Day-3 with only a combined 6ish hours of sleep.  His son has been in the hospital and he has been taking the 4am to 3pm shift.  Yet, he is now sitting at the Final Table, about 3rd in chips.
This is his 2nd final table, in his 2nd tournament since Friday.  I'm so proud of him! I, unfortunately, busted out of the Bounty with Queens on a short stack.  I ran into the Chipleader who held Kings and the second chipleader who had 8s who moved all in on the big blind and flopped a set!! Can you say SICK?!
It's O.K.  I'm going to sweat my man who is playing his best poker right now. WSOP, here we come!

Breaking the Dry Spell & Standing Behind My Man

For the last three months, I've been focused on World Team Poker.  As a shareholder, I have a vested interest in making sure that WTP is successful.  Of course, I've never been lucky enough to be able to have my cake and eat it too.

What does that mean?  It means that while things are looking good for WTP, I've spent the last three months in a poker dry spell.  I have yet to cash in a tournament this year, although if there was a leader board for bubble points, I'd be ranked in the top 10, and in contention for MVB (Most Vulnerable Bubblegirl).

After last night's session, I'm hopeful that it is a sign that I'm nearing the end of my card dead streak.  I didn't make much, but I walked away profitable, which is something I couldn't say a few weeks ago.  You know the kind of dry spell I'm talking about... it's catching hands like J/4 off hand after hand.  It's catching Jacks in early position when someone else has Queens, and the flop comes 2, 7, 9 rainbow!  It's folding every hand for 3 hours and never once regretting it because it was never the winning hand.

Johan however is playing his BEST game!  I have got to get my man into the WSOP main event. He is averaging a tripple-up for 8/10 sessions and made the final table at yesterday's (June 11) $30K bounty at Commerce.  His reads are spot on and he is playing on all of his gears.  I'm so proud of him!

Today is another grinding day,  we've got to make it happen before we hit the WSOP next week!
