For a mere $60, I staked Johan into a Single Table sit-n-go at The Bicycle Casino last night (July 7, 2010). It was a tough table, with some of the more exceptional tournament players that Los Angeles has to offer.
Johan played amazing. He was crippled to just 2K in chips (300/600 blinds) when he had to lay down K♦Q♦ on the small blind (3-handed) after accidentally raising half his chips (when tossing his chips on a raise, two 500 chips fell out of his hand). The big blind slowly squeezed his hole cards then when all-in. The two were equal in chips and had Johan made the call, one was surely going to be knocked out. Johan flipped over his King and mucked. Astonished, the big blind showed A♥Q♥ - shocked that Johan could fold given his investment after the raise. It was a good fold, and it left him enough chips to make a come back.
This win puts him into the $150,000 Guaranteed Stars & Stripes Main Event. With an estimated 30% paid to first place, that is some sick R.O.I. for $60!
