A Week Dedicated to Internet Poker

So, on Sunday (Nov. 29) I signed up for UltimateBet and loaded $200. I'm earning $111 in bonus dollars thanks to the "Sebok" code (although I thought it was supposed to be 111%). It doesn't matter I guess because $200 was all I was willing to load on the unfamiliar website.

I've had swings but haven't had to reload, so that has got to be good. I have been as low as $12 and have grinded it back up to $400. I don't like playing heads-up too much because at my current Internet bankroll stakes, the rake is a killer. It seams that if I don't double up and get out within 15 mins., I can spend about 15-30 mins. maneuvering to keep the other player in long enough to at least get my original buy-in back. (Eg., Both sat with $25, I left with $25ish but he was left with $13ish - UB made $11ish.) I do best at 6-handed and above, as well as sit 'n go's and tournaments. I like to play heads-up sit n go's and I do pretty good in those. There is not nearly as much action at UB as there is at PokerStars or FullTilt, but since I'm not an on-line poker genius - - that's probably a good thing for me.

I've had some crazy bad beats, and I've lucked out once or twice - - but the bad beats outweigh the lucky catches. If I never see another 3 again, it will be too soon. I've seen Aces 10 times out of over 60 hours of play so far, and Kings and Queens about 8x each. I get very few premium hands or playable connectors, or when I do - I'm way off position. I'm beginning to think I'm simply an unlucky person and will always have to work hard and get creative to make a dollar out of fifteen cents. I do, however, seam to be 9/2 and 10/4 magnet. I'm officially card dead in real life and in cyberspace - - whooopee!

I think that Internet poker is totally tilting, but I believe I'm getting the hang of it -- even though I hate it! These are my stats for the past week, for whatever they're worth.

PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge Audition Video

As previously mentioned, I won an opportunity to submit an audition video for the PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge. The video must to include two poker buddies and be posted on YouTube.com:

"No buddies, no show!" ... "Once on youtube, a team represented by PokerStars and the studio will carefully go through each submitted movie and find the ones we feel are the best to go forward to the show. So be creative, use your imagination – get lost in the movie experience! After all, this could be worth a million."

I looked on YouTube.com to research what others had done for inspiration. The videos that I saw ranged from boring to artistic and serious to corny. Upon my review, I decided that I wanted to keep with the simple theme of telling my story. One set back, however, is that I don't own a video camera nor have very many media editing software programs. So, after much thought, I used my cellphone, still photos and Picasa to create a video/slide show. While I'm certain it is not the most creative of the audition videos, I hope it will make an impact.
